This Privacy Policy explains how CrustWise handles information when you use the CrustWise iPhone app, Apple Watch companion, Home Screen widget, Live Activities, Siri/App Intents, and related support services. CrustWise is designed to be local-first: the core baking data you create is intended to stay on your device.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
SZÁM-SZINT Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság (SZÁM-SZINT Kft.), registered office: 1194 Budapest, Fecske u. 27., Hungary, is the operator of CrustWise and the controller of personal data that SZÁM-SZINT receives directly from you, for example when you contact support.

2. Information CrustWise stores locally
CrustWise may store information you create or configure in the app locally on your Apple device so that the app can provide its features. Depending on the features you use, this can include:
- active cook state, recipe selections, ingredient quantities, batch settings and fermentation plans;
- cook and bake history, ratings, outcomes, problems, improvement results and related notes;
- custom or adjusted recipes and recipe preferences;
- equipment selections and app preferences;
- experiment or learning data used by local CrustWise features;
- purchase-entitlement status obtained from Apple when needed to present Free or Pro functionality; and
- small derived state shared between CrustWise components and, where applicable, your paired Apple Watch, such as cook progress and timer state used by the Home Screen widget and Watch companion.
This core baking information is not intended to be uploaded to a SZÁM-SZINT-operated server in the v1 release. CrustWise does not require a CrustWise account.
3. Information that may leave your device
3.1 App Store purchases and subscriptions
CrustWise Pro purchases are processed using Apple's StoreKit and the App Store. Apple processes payment and account information under Apple's own terms and privacy practices. CrustWise receives the purchase/entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features are available. SZÁM-SZINT does not receive or store your payment card details, and CrustWise does not use a developer-operated payment backend for App Store purchases.
3.2 Support and feedback
If you choose to contact us by email, the information you include in your message is transmitted through your chosen email service to support@szamszint.hu. This may include your email address, message content and any information or attachments you deliberately include. Support contact is user-initiated. We use this information to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, protect the service where necessary, and keep an appropriate record of the correspondence.
When you start a support email from CrustWise, the app pre-fills limited technical information to help us troubleshoot: the CrustWise app version and build number, your iOS version, and the device model string reported by iOS. CrustWise does not automatically attach your recipes, cook history, notes, experiments, equipment profile, or other baking data to a support email.
3.3 Apple Watch, widgets, Live Activities and notifications
CrustWise may share limited cook state between the iPhone app and its Apple Watch companion using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, and between the app and its widget extension using an Apple App Group. Live Activities and local notifications may display cook steps, timer status or related baking information on your Apple devices. These features are used to provide the functionality you request and are not a developer-operated analytics or advertising channel.
4. What CrustWise does not do in v1
- No CrustWise account or separate account registration.
- No advertising.
- No cross-app or cross-website tracking.
- No advertising identifier (IDFA) use for tracking.
- No third-party analytics SDK.
- No developer-operated behavioral analytics or crash-telemetry service.
- No sale of personal data.
- No CloudKit/iCloud database sync of your CrustWise baking data in the v1 release.
Cloud-related source code may exist for future development, but cloud sync is disabled for the v1 product. If we later introduce cloud sync or materially change how data is handled, we will update this Policy and the relevant App Store privacy disclosures before or when the change applies.
5. Legal bases for personal data we receive
Most CrustWise baking data remains local to your device and is not received by SZÁM-SZINT. Where SZÁM-SZINT does receive personal data, the applicable legal basis depends on the context:
- Support and service requests: where processing is necessary to respond to a request connected with your use or purchase of CrustWise, we rely on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps at your request and/or performance of our agreement). For troubleshooting, service improvement, abuse prevention, security, and the establishment or defence of legal claims where those purposes are not necessary for contract performance, we may rely on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are operating, securing and supporting CrustWise and protecting our legal rights.
- Legal and compliance records: where applicable, processing is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR to comply with a legal obligation.
- Security and dispute handling: where applicable, processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are preventing misuse, maintaining the security and integrity of CrustWise, and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.
6. Retention
Local baking data is generally retained on your device until you delete it using available app controls, reset relevant app data, or remove the app and its locally stored data, subject to how Apple manages app and extension containers on your devices.
Support correspondence received by SZÁM-SZINT is kept while the request is being handled and for any reasonable follow-up period. After that, it is retained only where and for as long as necessary under an applicable legal retention requirement or where reasonably necessary in light of an applicable limitation period to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The nature of the request, the need for follow-up, and applicable legal retention or limitation periods determine the retention period.
7. Deleting data and your choices
You can delete or change data through the controls CrustWise makes available for the relevant feature. Because CrustWise has no account-based cloud database in v1, there is generally no central CrustWise account record for us to erase.
CrustWise includes a “Delete All CrustWise Data” control with a confirmation step. It clears the app’s locally stored active cook, cook history, saved/custom recipes, experiments, equipment data, pizza profile, app settings, scheduled local notifications, shared cook state used by the widget, Apple Watch context, navigation state, and local synchronization-state keys. It does not delete built-in recipes or change permissions and other settings managed by iOS. Individual record deletion may leave technical deletion markers locally until the relevant local collection is fully reset. These markers are part of local persistence and are not uploaded to a SZÁM-SZINT-operated server in v1. Deleting the app ordinarily removes data in the app’s own container; data held in Apple-managed shared or companion containers is subject to Apple’s platform behavior.
For personal data that you have sent directly to SZÁM-SZINT, such as support correspondence, you may contact support@szamszint.hu to exercise applicable data-protection rights.
8. Your data-protection rights
Where the GDPR applies to personal data processed by SZÁM-SZINT, you may have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. 9. Recipients and service providers
Where SZÁM-SZINT receives personal data through a support email, recipients may include personnel who need the information to handle the request and service providers used for business email and IT operations. We disclose personal data to authorities or professional advisers only where required or permitted by law and where relevant to the purpose concerned. Apple processes App Store purchase and platform-service information under Apple’s own terms; SZÁM-SZINT does not receive your payment card details.
10. Required information and automated decision-making
You are not required by law to provide personal data to use CrustWise’s core local features. If you choose to contact support, we need the information necessary to understand and respond to your request; without sufficient information, we may be unable to provide support. SZÁM-SZINT does not use personal data it receives from CrustWise for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
11. Children
CrustWise is not designed to collect children's personal information through an account system, because no CrustWise account is required. Cooking can involve hot ovens, hot surfaces, steam, sharp tools and other hazards. Minors should use CrustWise only with appropriate parent, guardian or responsible-adult supervision.
12. International processing
Core CrustWise baking data is designed to remain local. If you contact us by email, your message is handled through the email service providers involved in transmission and delivery. If you use Apple services such as the App Store, Apple processes information under its own service arrangements and privacy terms. Those providers may process information outside the European Economic Area under the transfer mechanisms applicable to their services. SZÁM-SZINT does not operate a CrustWise cloud backend in v1.
13. Security
We design CrustWise to minimize data collection and use platform-provided security boundaries. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your Apple device and Apple Account.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when CrustWise changes or when legal requirements change. The current version will be published at the Privacy Policy URL below, with the 'Last updated' date revised as appropriate.
